Teacher of the Month for January: Mr. Brian Madar
Mr. Madar is in
his first year as a full time teacher at Elizabeth Forward High School. He has been substituting for the past nine years,
and has been certified for five years. Mr. Madar teaches American Government as well as Economics. It was the
enjoyment he felt while teaching kids that first interested Mr. Madar in education. His love of social studies and history
also contributed to his decision to become a teacher. As a student, Mr. Madar attended Elizabeth Forward and Duquesne
University where he earned his Bachelors Degree. The main influence on Mr. Madar’s life was his parents.
Inside the building, he said Mr. John Hearn and Mrs. Renalda Arndt were faculty that he most looked up to. Senior Sean
LaVelle nominated Mr. Madar for the Teacher of the Month Award, saying Mr. Madar was, “not only a good teacher, but
a good mentor as well.” In November, Mr. Madar ran a mock election for the students of his American Government
class. Mr. Madar is always trying to find ways to get his students to become more knowledgeable about today’s
society. This is why January’s Teacher of The Month is Mr. Brian Madar.
